State-run Oil India (OIL) on Friday reported occurrence of natural gas in its second exploratory well, Vijayapuram-2 (Loc. OAEA), drilled in the Offshore Andaman Block under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP).

Preliminary analysis of gas samples collected during intermittent inflow of gas as part of the initial production testing confirmed the presence of Natural Gas, the exploration & production (E&P) company said.

Further gas isotope studies are being undertaken so as to understand the genesis of the gas, the Maharatna firm added.
