VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Neptune Festival in Virginia Beach is expected to bring in 400,000 people to the oceanfront during the three day event.

Among those attending are out of towners who may have planned a weekend for the festival or happened to visit not knowing it was going on.

"It was kind of a mistake, I got this hotel and it was at the epicenter of the Neptune Fest," said Scott Chierepko.

Chierepko is visiting Virginia Beach from New Hampshire, but he once lived in Hampton Roads and has enjoyed the festival before.

"I enjoy really the arts and crafts… all the festivities along the boardwalk, 2 miles of pop up tents and its kind of neat."

Some are visiting the area to celebrate a friend's birthday with the Neptune Festival being at the top of the to-do list.
