NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is launching a new initiative, "Front Burner Fridays," under the direction of Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick. Officials say it's designed to spotlight the city’s most-wanted cases.

The department reports that violent crime is down 15% and overall crime is at a 50-year low, but the effort is aimed at maintaining this momentum.

Each "Front Burner Friday" will feature:

Updated suspect photos and case summaries

Clear soundbites from NOPD officials

Crimestoppers participation

“This is about partnership: police, community, and media — three voices, one mission. Your role is essential in amplifying these cases so offenders are brought in quickly,” NOPD said in announcing the series.
