BROADVIEW, Ill. (WTVO) — Republican gubernatorial candidates in Illinois are seeking the repeal of the TRUST Act, the law that prevents state law enforcement from cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

On Thursday, candidate Ted Dabrowski held a press conference outside the ICE facility in Broadview.

"The first duty of government is to keep people safe and sanctuary policies inhibit Illinois from doing so," Dabraowski's campaign said.

"The Broadview ICE facility has been the target of protesters who have attempted to obstruct law enforcement operations, forcing officers to physically remove people who were blocking entrances," according to a press release.
