BRANCH COUNTY, MI — Police arrested a woman who allegedly smuggled drugs into prison while visiting an inmate there, the Michigan State Police reports.
Between 3:30 and 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, staff at the Michigan Department of Corrections Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater detained a 40-year-old Westland woman for allegedly smuggling drugs into the prison.
The woman was there to visit a prisoner, MSP said.
She was detained and MDOC contacted the Michigan State Police. A subsequent investigation led to her arrest.
The woman was lodged at the Branch County Jail for two felony crimes, MSP said.
