SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The father of the suspect wanted for a mass shooting in Shreveport's Allendale community was arrested by Shreveport police.

SPD was searching for suspected shooter, Rasson Smith, Jr., after securing a warrant for attempted second-degree murder for the shooting on September 19, 2025, on Poland St.

While searching for Rasson Smith, Jr., at a location he was believed to be, SPD encountered Smith's father, Rasson Smith, Sr., and arrested him for having three firearms, which he was prohibited from having because he had prior felony convictions, including domestic violence.
