“The Flood” will open Oct. 3 at Greenville Center for Creative Arts.

The exhibition will feature works by Ohio-based printmaker Melissa Haviland.

“The Flood” draws on the historical tradition of “bluing” — wherein blue dyes were added to paper and textiles to counteract yellowing and enhance perceived quality. Haviland’s towering, immersive installations aim to evoke the sensation of being swept away, as though the sea has inundated the space, the gallery said in a news release.

The exhibition will be on display at 101 Abney St. in Greenville through Nov. 26.

GCCA will also host an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 3 to celebrate the new collection.
