The Gilbert Chamber Foundation is rolling out a new program designed to help young innovators turn their ideas into action.

The Student Entrepreneurs Academy , beginning Oct. 21, is a 16-week hands-on course open to students in grades 6-12.

The academy is designed to students launch a big idea, said Elaine Kessler, the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce’s director of foundation and community impact.

“Students that have a business idea or they want to cultivate some leadership skills, or they just want to test drive some innovation, this is a space to help empower them to do that and hopefully maybe launch some of those businesses off the ground,” she said.

The academy will meet once a week for two hours, with students paired with local mentors for additional guidance outside of class.
