The restaurant world’s biggest names gathered at the Wynn in Las Vegas last night to celebrate the release of the inaugural North America’s 50 Best Restaurants list. The ranking spotlights North American restaurants at the top of their game right now, judged by a group of more than 300 independent leaders from across the region, who are each selected for their expert opinion of each region’s culinary scene.
Fine dining restaurant Smyth , helmed by chef John Shields and Karen Urie Shields, was named the fourth best restaurant in North America, making it the best restaurant in the Midwest and second best in the U.S. Preceded by the top-ranking spot Atomix in New York and two Canadian restaurants, Smyth was honored for its “inventive dining with a progressive, farm-to-table approach.”
