Danielle Mikinka still finds herself fighting through the pain of losing her best friend of 30 years, Monica “Star” Murrah, who was stabbed to death by her estranged husband at her home in 2021.
Mikinka said the criminal justice system has brought little peace to the Murrah family, but partial justice was served during Thursday’s Day of Remembrance ceremony for local homicide victims.
About 70 people attended the annual gathering, organized by the National Women’s Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation to honor homicide victims and their loved ones.
