Curing Kids Cancer, a nonprofit organization devoted to funding cutting-edge pediatric cancer therapies, has pledged $5 million to Prisma Health Midlands Foundation to help fund new pediatric cancer research led by Prisma Health Children's Hospital – Midlands in partnership with the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy.
With the pledge, Curing Kids Cancer has established a new endowment with Prsima Health Midlands Foundation named in memory of the late Killian Owen, son of Curing Kids Cancer co-founders Gráinne and Clay Owen called Killian’s Hope for a United South Carolina. Killian Owen lost his life in 2003 when he was 9 years old after battling leukemia.
