CLEVELAND — Canton Ballet is set to begin its 60th season with a collaboration featuring a local youth ballet company, followed by a new spin on its annual "Peter and the Wolf" with the Canton Symphony Orchestra.
First up on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at Gervasi Vineyard, Canton Ballet teams up with Ballet Excel Ohio on "One Stage, Two Legacies," a one-hour performance featuring dancers from both companies.
On Saturday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m., the company will give the public performance of Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf," which has been performed annually in schools across Stark County since 1978. The 30-minute production, featuring the Canton Symphony Orchestra at their home venue of Umstattd Performing Arts Hall, has new costumes for this year courtesy of a gift from The Hoover Foundation.
