CLEVELAND — Police are investigating after shots were fired in the vicinity of Ward 9 Cleveland City Councilman Kevin Conwell on Friday.

City officials have confirmed that Conwell was walking through his ward in the 10000 block of Magnolia Drive just after 10 a.m. when shots were fired.

No injuries were reported.

The Cleveland Division of Police has acknowledged that an active investigation is underway. No suspect or vehicle information has been provided.

Conwell's fellow councilmember Mike Polensek reacted to the shooting with 3News' Peter Fleischer.

"Councilman Conwell is a dear and longtime friend," Polensek told 3News. "He is a good councilman and a great community leader. The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating the incident and we will let them determine what happened
