SRINAGAR : Prof Ghulam Jeelani, Dean of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Head of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Kashmir, has been conferred with the National Geoscience Award by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. Instituted by the Ministry of Mines, the award is among the highest national honours in the field of geoscience. Prof Jeelani was recognised for his research in isotope hydrology and Himalayan environmental studies, which has advanced understanding of water resources, glaciers and the impacts of climate change in the region.
