An upcoming concert in Brantford will shine the spotlight on one of Canada’s popular bands from the 1980s and serve as a recognition evening for the skilled trades sector in Ontario.

Phil Gillies, elected as Brantford’s MPP from 1981 to 1987, is also a former executive director of the Ontario Construction Consortium, which is sponsoring the concert at The Rope Factory on Friday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m.

GGillies has been involved in bringing a number of bands to Brantford over the years including Lighthouse, Bruce Cockburn, and Randy Bachman. For this event, Port Dover singer/songwriter Felicia McMinn will open for headliners The Spoons.

Between acts, a brief presentation will be made about skilled trades and their importance to the economy.
