NAMI Southeast Louisiana is preparing for one of its biggest fundraising events of the year.
The nonprofit is hosting its NAMIWalks event at Audubon Park on Saturday, Oct. 4. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. with the walk to follow at 10 a.m. Advertisement
The annual event raises money and awareness about mental health services in Southeast Louisiana. NAMI Southeast Louisiana currently serves nine parishes in the region.
This year's goal is to raise $200,000, and executive director Nick Richard tells WDSU they are well on their way to reaching that goal.
"Those dollars support our programs. Last year alone, we had 16,000 individuals go to our free support group and education classes. We had 52,000 individuals calling us or going through our website for resources and support. T
