When the Boston Red Sox host the Detroit Tigers on Friday night, fans watching the broadcast will have a unique and historical experience.

Those tuning in to the game will watch footage shot directly from an iPhone camera. Here is more (via MLB.com):

"For the final Friday Night Baseball showdown of the year on Apple TV+, the broadcast will feature live game footage captured on the new iPhone 17 Pro. It will be the first time an iPhone will be used publicly in the live broadcast of a professional sporting event."

The NBA shot a Summer League game on a camera phone in 2019.

The Apple TV+ broadcast will have four cameras positioned around Fenway Park.

One camera will sit inside the Green Monster to capture shots from left field.

Others will shoot from the Red Sox dugout with another "roving" around the stadium.

Fans will learn which shots were from an iPhone with a special overlay denoting it as traditional cameras will also complement the camera phone footage.
