TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, a time to break the silence and shed light on a topic that touches every community.

Even as the month comes to a close, it’s important to remember those complex feelings can stay year-round.

Local counselor Thomas Noth explains that warning signs of suicide risk can vary greatly from person to person and situation.

“There’s individual risk factors, community risk factors, societal risk factors,” Noth explains.

Drug use, financial woes, and even exposure to violence can lead to these thoughts, but it’s important to recognize when there’s a possibility of them turning into action.
