CLEVELAND, Ohio - A high-speed police chase that began in Brunswick early Friday ended in a crash in Cleveland, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers attempted to stop a Volkswagen Atlas for speeding on northbound Interstate 71 south of State Route 82 at approximately 2:37 a.m. The driver refused to pull over, prompting a pursuit.

The chase continued northbound on I-71 before the Volkswagen exited at West 130th Street. The SUV then briefly entered Interstate 90 and exited at West Boulevard, where it struck a concrete curb. The Ohio Department of Transportation recently added median barrier walls to protect homes in the area.
