Kingston postal works joined its unionized fellow workers in staging a nationwide walkout on Friday following Public Works and Procurement Minister Joel Lightbound’s announcement Thursday that Canada Post would decrease mail services.
At Kingston’s main post office at 120 Clarence St. on Friday, workers were walking the picket line, the doors to the facility were locked and only a single, non-union supervisor was in the building.

Last December, members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) went on strike after being unable to negotiate a new contract, but legislation forced its members back on the job.
