With the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation coming up on Tuesday, Sept. 30, local organizations will be recognizing the day through local events and initiatives as part of a nationwide commemoration.

In Brockville, the city will fly the NDTR flag at the Brockville Railway Tunnel south entrance. All city flags will be lowered to half-mast and will remain lowered until Wednesday, Oct. 1.

In addition, the Brockville Railway Tunnel will be lit up in orange, as the day is known informally as Orange Shirt Day, with a music playlist from Indigenous musicians.

There will also be an event at Hardy Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. that marks Truth and Reconciliation Day and celebrates Indigenous culture.
