Postal workers are taking to the picket lines Friday morning following a strike notice from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) Thursday afternoon.
The countrywide strike follows an announcement from the federal government Thursday, in which Joël Lightbound, minister of government transformation, public works and procurement, outlined changes that the union says will lead to significant job losses.

“Our members were outraged with the announcement from the minister,” said Wycliffe Oduor, president of the union’s Calgary local.
Oduor said they were caught off guard by the announcement, noting that an upcoming mandate review of Canada Post was planned to t
