A national mail strike won’t result in a grace period for property taxes and other fees due, but Chatham-Kent is offering alternate payment options.
Canada Post operations will remain shut down during a national strike by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, which will cause disruptions, municipal officials said in a release.
“Mailed items such as payments, applications, building permits, registrations or other documents could be delayed in arrival and lead to late fees or longer processing times,” they said.
To avoid late fees, interruptions, or delays, residents are encouraged to use alternate payment or delivery methods:
bringing mail directly to a municipal service centre or customer service drop box
submitting documents by email where possible
arranging pre-authorized payments
