WASHINGTON, D.C. – Hundreds of current and former doctors, nurses and caregivers have issued a warning to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regarding recent staffing cuts.
This group has sent a letter to VA Secretary Doug Collins, expressing concerns about the negative impacts they believe these changes could have on veteran care.
They argue that outsourcing care to private sector doctors could harm veterans.
In the letter, they stated, “This will continue to undermine the VA’s health care system and overwhelm the budget.”
VA officials have consistently maintained that the changes will not hurt veterans or their care.
They assert that the recent moves are designed to improve efficiency at the agency.
