WOODRUFF, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Two years after a missing man’s body was found inside his burned out Chevy Impala, his killer has been convicted.

Jimmy Lee Salters was found guilty of murder, armed robbery, arson, and two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Salters, 50, was one of two suspects arrested in the 2023 death of Leroy Palmer Jr.

Palmer, 51, was reported missing after his mother said he didn’t show up for a family function. His remains were later found inside his car, which had been incinerated in the woods off Sharon Road in Woodruff.

Prosecutors said Salters called Palmer on the night he was murdered and Palmer drove to meet him at a manufacturing facility on North Blackstock Road. When Palmer opened his car door, Salters shot him multiple times.
