Nevada is off the Department of Justice’s list of sanctuary jurisdictions .

According to the DOJ, it’s the first removal of any jurisdiction since the Trump administration list was published in August. The list put states and cities at risk of lawsuits and loss of federal funds.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi made the announcement Sept. 26.

“We applaud Gov. (Joe) Lombardo and Nevada for taking necessary steps to fully comply with the Trump Administration’s immigration policy,” she said in a statement. “This should serve as a reminder to other jurisdictions: come to the table and work with us instead of going to court.”

The DOJ also announced a new memorandum of understanding with the state of Nevada that it will “fully cooperate on immigration enforcement.”
