LOUISVILLE, Ky. — On Friday, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, D-Louisville, announced an independent monitor has been selected to oversee the city’s police reform plan, known as Community Commitment - Louisville’s Consent Decree.

Nonprofit Effective Law Enforcement for All (ELEFA) has been selected. They were one of two finalists for the job, which community members got the chance to meet earlier in September.

“Selecting Effective Law Enforcement for All as the independent monitor is a win for accountability, transparency, and our continued steps to make LMPD the best police department in America,” said Greenberg in a social media post.

The announcement comes four months after plans for a federal consent decree fell apart.
