DALLAS — When it comes to extra security for members of Congress, U.S. Rep. Keith Self, R-3rd District, doesn’t think it should be at the same level as the President.

“I believe that we need to take prudent measures, but I'm not for spending millions and millions of dollars to try to protect each one of us like the President's protected. It simply is cost prohibitive,” the Republican told us on Inside Texas Politics .

Recent events show political violence is a growing reality in our country, from the fatal shootings at the Dallas U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office and other attacks on ICE detention facilities, to the assassinations of Charlie Kirk recently and two Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota earlier this year.
