ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Our guest on this episode of Abilene People is Kayla Young, Executive Director of the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature (NCCIL). An Abilene native and Abilene High graduate, Kayla earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Hardin-Simmons University. She may be one of the youngest nonprofit directors in town, but her story with the NCCIL spans more than 20 years—beginning when she received her first signed book at a children’s camp hosted by the center. Kayla’s journey with the NCCIL has come full circle. She first joined as a part-time programming coordinator, leading art
