Starbucks announced on Sept. 25 that it will close hundreds of stores in the U.S. and Canada and lay off about 900 non‑retail employees as part of its “Back to Starbucks” turnaround plan.
According to Starbucks, the store closures are targeting locations that the company says either do not meet performance expectations or cannot be remodeled to deliver the physical environment customers expect.
