COLUMBIA, S.C. — Federal prosecutors say former South Carolina lawmaker R.J. May has agreed to plead guilty to multiple charges related to a child sexual abuse materials investigation .

Prosecutors said Friday that May is expected to enter the plea Monday at the federal courthouse in Columbia.

In the agreement that has been filed with the court, May would plead guilty to five counts of distribution of child pornography. He'd originally been charged with 10 total counts.

Each count carries a maximum penalty of between five and 20 years in prison, plus fines. As part of the agreement, May would agree to not appeal whatever sentence he is given.

May had been in court just two days earlier to argue to U.S. Judge Cameron Currie court that some evidence against him should be thrown out. H
