CASSATT, S.C. — Authorities have charged a suspect with attempted murder after a man said he was shot while sleeping in Kershaw County.

The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened around 5:20 p.m. on Thursday at a location on Holland Road in the Cassatt community.

The sheriff's office said deputies responded to the area had what officials described as a graze wound to the back of the head. The victim was able to speak with investigators and said he was asleep on the couch when he was attacked and remembered a gun being fired, however he couldn't identify the shooter.

An incident report states that an area homeowner soon got a doorbell camera alert and found the victim outside with a bleeding head wound. The homeowner called 911 after the victim asked to be taken to an
