September is Hunger Action Month and organizations, like First Energy Foundation, are showing their support.
Over 101,000 people in the Northwest region of Pennsylvania struggle with food insecurity, including more than 40,000 people in Erie.
For 12 years, First Energy Foundation has partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank, joining them in the battle against food insecurity. On Friday, they donated $50,000 is one of their largest donations.
The president of First Energy Pennsylvania, John Hawkins Jr., explained why they chose to make such a large donation to a local food bank.
