NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two teens were arrested in connection with what Metro police called a "critical shooting" last Friday.
An investigation by the Metro Nashville Police Department's Non-Lethal Shooting Unit indicated that a 28-year-old East Nashville woman and her 26-year-old friend were walking from a home along South 10th Street when they were approached by two 17-year-olds at the Shelby Avenue intersection. One allegedly pulled out a pistol and demanded their things; the 26-year-old's purse "was forcibly taken," but when the 28-year-old resisted, she was shot.
Police said the teens ran away from the scene. The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she reportedly underwent several surgeries.
