WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A 30-year-old man died Friday, 12 days after he was struck by a vehicle on University Parkway in Winston-Salem.

According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, officers responded to University Parkway near Coliseum Drive shortly before 9 p.m. on September 14 to a crash involving a pedestrian. When they arrived on scene, they learned that 30-year-old Rickey Leon Martin "darted out onto University Parkway" when he was hit by a car operated by a 19-year-old driver.

No charges have been filed against the driver of the car at this time. The Winston-Salem Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the crash.
