A convicted felon is facing a plethora of charges in connection with an incident that occurred Wednesday.

Newport police arrested Joshua Lee Springer, 36, who was previously convicted of Felony Possession of Meth with Intent to Resell in 2024.

Springer was charged Wednesday with Second Offense Driving on a Cancelled/Revoked/Suspended License, A Felon in Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance.

According to a report from Newport Police Officer Eli Suggs, police saw a Dodge Charger, driven by Springer, whose plate had been expired since September 2024. A records check on the tag found that the tag was not on file.
