No college football fortunes have been turned more upside down than Tulane’s and Tulsa’s in recent memory.
When Tulsa quarterback Dane Evans threw for as many touchdowns (three) as Tulane’s Glen Cuillette had completions in a 50-27 rout during Willie Fritz’s debut season with the Green Wave, the Golden Hurricane was on a dominant run of 11 wins in 12 meetings between the two private schools from 2005-16. During an eight-game stretch from 2005-12, the Wave was outscored 346-99 in one mismatch after the other against a faster, stronger, better opponent.
Tulsa went 46-18 to Tulane’s 13-51 during that span in Conference USA, winning two league championships and finishing first in the West Division three more times.
Flash forward to 2025, and Tulane (3-1, 0-0 American) is a 15½-point road
