CLEVELAND, Ohio— A special prosecutor will investigate the death of a Cuyahoga County Jail inmate, who died after she was restrained at MetroHealth.
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley appointed attorney Brian Kraft, a private defense attorney who spent 16 years as an assistant county prosecutor, to handle the investigation into Tasha Grant’s homicide.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner ruled Grant’s death a homicide and found that she died from being restrained in her hospital bed while suffering from congestive heart failure. Other contributing factors included heart disease, diabetes and obesity.
The homicide ruling doesn’t speak to criminality, the medical examiner’s office said. It only means that a person’s actions caused the death, in this case the restraints. Cuyahoga
