GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Greensboro's city manager has a goal of building 10,000 new homes by 2030.

According to the city's dashboard, 1,720 homes are either under construction or have been completed since the project was announced in February 2025.

To help the city achieve this goal, the city just hired a new housing strategy and development director.

Samuel Hunter’s been in this new role for six days. The experience he brings includes most recently serving as the assistant director of neighborhood services for the City of Winston-Salem since October 2023.

Before that, he served as a project manager, starting his career with the City of Winston-Salem as a planner in 2019.
