Barkley Regional Airport says its current air service will continue to accept reservations through next January as the airport awaits a formal decision on a new carrier.

Airport staff say they’re waiting for a formal decision from the U.S. Department of Transportation on their new essential air service contract.

Contour Airlines will continue accepting reservations from Paducah through January 31. Reservations after that could change depending on the timing of the DOT decision.

In July, the airport recommended SkyWest Airlines to provide air service to Chicago O’Hare and Houston Intercontinental.

Airport leaders say whenever the final word comes, they will require a short period of time to help make a smooth transition.
