EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Separate incidents at Greenbrier and Evans High Schools led to letters being sent to parents on Friday.

Greenbrier High School

A student was found with a knife at Greenbrier High School, according to school officials.

In a letter sent to families on Friday, officials say the knife was found during an “ongoing, unrelated investigation.”

The blade was immediately secured by the Columbia County School District Police, according to the letter.

Metal detectors coming soon to all Richmond County high schools

Metal detectors are coming to all Richmond County high schools.

Officials say no other students saw the blade, and there was no threat made; however, the student is being held responsible according to the code of conduct and the law.
