ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WKRG) — The islands just inside Perdido Pass in Orange Beach are a go-to destination for boaters and birds alike.

"It's great, oh it's beautiful and it's going to be great for a hundred years," said Nature Conservancy trustee Michael Kirkpatrick as he toured the Islands of Perdido by boat.

An almost $13 million restoration project spearheaded by the Nature Conservancy included sand dunes, plants — both underwater and above, marshland rehabilitation, and expanded shorelines on Robinson and Walker Islands.
