GRANVILLE, Ohio — After more than a decade of pouring pints and memories, Granville Brewing Company is closing its doors.

Located off Route 16 in Licking County, just across from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Granville post, the small taproom has become a community staple — even though many still don’t know it’s there.

“I bet you a beer, someone on Saturday will say they didn’t know we were here,” co-founder Ross Kirk said with a smile.

Granville Brewing started as a hobby for Kirk and a friend. The pair began brewing in a shed, experimenting with fermentation and recipes. What came out of that early trial was a surprising success.

“We were like, let’s just ferment it and see what happens,” Kirk said. “We were like, holy cow, it’s delicious. It’s become one of our best sellers.”
