Hunter Dobbins was back at Fenway Park on Friday, soaking in the scene as his teammates prepared for their biggest game of the season to date.

Dobbins can’t do anything to help — he’s been out with a torn ACL since July — but without his contributions the Red Sox likely wouldn’t have been one win away from clinching a playoff berth in the first place.

“You see how valuable every single ballgame is, especially this time of year,” said Dobbins, who was honored pregame as this year’s recipient of the Lou Gorman Award, presented annually to a player who overcame obstacles to reach the majors. “Being able to — I think my record was 4-1 and I was able to keep us in some other ballgames that we won as well. I took a lot of pride in that.”
