Social media had a lot to say after a Washington Commanders fan exposed a loophole in the NFL’s “Rookie of the Week” voting system that helped wide receiver Jaylin Lane win the honors.
Jaylin Lane was named “Rookie of the Week”, determined via online voting by fans, after racking up 127 yards on five punt returns, including a 90-yard touchdown that helped Washington cruise to a 41-24 blowout win over the visiting Las Vegas Raiders.
Now 2-1, the Commanders will try to improve to 3-1 when they visit Michael Penix Jr. and the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
Lane was the second Commanders player to win Rookie of the Week this season. Running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt took the honors in Week 1 after rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries in a 21-6 win over the New York Giants,
