WENATCHEE — A 51-year-old homeless man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to first-degree reckless burning for a fire he lit at Hale Park last month.
Timothy John Whitney was arrested on Aug. 15 on three separate charges: arson, resisting an officer, and trespassing.
He has a history of starting fires and was previously convicted of second-degree attempted arson and first-degree reckless burning in April for a blaze that severely damaged a city of Wenatchee stormwater culvert.
Whitney was sentenced in Chelan County Superior Court to four months in jail for the most recent conviction. Chelan County prosecutors warned they would offer no further plea deals if he’s charged with a fire-related offense in the future.
