FRANKFORT, Ky. —
Legalizing sports wagering has proved to be a good bet for Kentucky.
The Kentucky Horse Racing and Gaming Corporation oversees sports betting.
During a committee hearing in Frankfort, officials from the corporation told state lawmakers that nearly $5 billion have been wagered in the last two years and players have won $4.4 billion.
Hannah Simms, the director of sports wagering at KHRG, said, “In fiscal year ‘24 and ‘25, legal sports wagering has demonstrated the value of a regulated market. Kentuckians are choosing safe legal options. The state is receiving millions in new resources, and KHRG's oversight is ensuring that this market continues to mature responsibly for the people of the commonwealth.”
Sports wagering revenue has provided $73 million to the state's publ
