WESH 2 got a behind-the-scenes tour of Blue Origin’s facilities as the private space company prepares to launch its second New Glenn rocket in October.

“Just a few years ago, this was barren pasture,” U.S. Rep. Mike Haridopolos said. “Billions of dollars have been invested — 4,000 jobs and more to come. America is on a great comeback, and it’s because we’re thinking outside the box.”

Haridopolos is chairman of the Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics, which oversees national space policy and programs. WESH 2 toured the Blue Origin facility to get a closer look at the company's expansion efforts, including the construction of a new lunar plant expected to create between 1,500 and 2,000 jobs.

Much of the work at the facility could not be filmed due to its classified nature.
