ALonna Soward-Puryear, the Teacher of the Year in Frederick County Public Schools, was named 2026 Maryland Teacher of the Year on Friday.

Soward-Puryear, a fourth grade teacher at Monocacy Elementary School, received the statewide honor at a gala and dinner in Hunt Valley.
