HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) Food and Drug Branch (FBD) is warning residents about a nationwide recall of certain frozen shrimp products due to possible radioactive contamination.

The recall was issued by Southwind Foods, LLC, of certain Sand Bar, Arctic Shores, Best Yet, Great American, and First Street frozen shrimp products.

Cesium-137, a manmade radioactive isotope of caesium, was detected in a single shipment of imported frozen shrimp that did not enter U.S. commerce.

However, due to unsanitary conditions, a recall has been issued for frozen shrimp products originating from the foreign seafood processor, the state said.
